Bios

 

Dennis Haskell, Chair

Dennis Haskell received his Masters of Architecture and Masters of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and has over 40 years of experience. Haskell has expertise in large-scale, mixed-used development and urban design, with special emphasis on transportation and waterfront projects. His background in architecture, planning and urban design includes over 40 years of managing interdisciplinary design and development projects and staffs. His project involvement includes facility design, programming, planning feasibility studies, environmental analyses, site selection and site planning.

 

Alex Rolluda, Vice Chair

Alex attended the University of Washington and graduated in 1989 with a Master of Architecture. Since 2002, Alex has been the president of Rolluda Architects Inc in Seattle. Alex has over 20 years of experience as principal in charge, project architect and designer. His projects include medical, religious, commercial, retail and mixed-use buildings, community centers and educational facilities. He has served on the Pike Place Market Historical Commission (2006), International District/Chinatown Design Review Board (1989-1994), and the Council of Educational Facilities Planner (CEFP).

 

Barbara Swift

Barbara Swift, a graduate of the University of Washington, is a licensed landscape architect with 31 years of experience in environmental design with a portfolio demonstrating strength in all areas of landscape architecture. As principal of Swift Company LLC, Barbara has directed the firm’s work in the planning and design of public facilities. Her professional emphasis on open space design springs from her commitment to improve the quality of life for communities living in the rich environment of the Northwest during a period of significant growth. Her extensive experience working with interdisciplinary teams and multiple client groups is demonstrated in the key role she has played in the design teams for the Seattle Civic Center Open Space, University of Washington South West Campus Projects, the Discovery Park Habitat Improvement Project, and the Lemay Museum. Barbara is valued for her work in public environments, including the Seattle Viaduct Replacement Project, the University of Washington East Campus Master Plan and the Washington State University Terrell Precinct Study. Relevant projects include the Sound Transit Northlink University of Washington and Capital Hill Stations, the Seattle Monorail Project, and ongoing work on multiple university campuses. Barbara is skilled at addressing a project’s functional and programmatic requirements while always including its role in the larger context of the community and region. Barbara is past member and chair of the Seattle Design and Arts Commissions and the Arcade Editorial Committee. Barbara was instrumental in establishing City Design, a Seattle city agency focused on urban design and the built environment. Barbara has received awards for her work, including the Ballard Commons, Maple Valley Library, West Seattle Bridge Open Space Master Plan, Seward Park, the Seattle Justice Center, and the Pacific Science Center Plaza and artist residencies with Centrum and the European Ceramic Work Centre.

 

Paul Blanton

Paul Blanton attended the University of Idaho and University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1963 with a Degree in Architecture. He has been a self-employed Consultant since 2001. Previously, Paul had extensive experience with several design firms, including Walker, McGough & Trogdon, Architects AKA; Intergrus McClure, Adkinson, Architects AKA ALSC; Kenneth W Brooks, Architects; Tan Boyle Heyamoto, Architects; VP, Delta International Development & Planning; and Blanton-Blue Design Associates. He has served as an AIA Corporate Member (1959-1980); FAIA College of Fellows (1980-Present); Idaho Chapter AIA President (1972-1975); National Council of Arch. Registration Board (1971-2000); State of Idaho Architectural Board (1971-1991); and the City Planning Commission, Moscow, Idaho (1973).
