Public invited Sept. 21 to hear project updates, provide comments

Architects meet to discuss Heritage Center, office building design

OLYMPIA – The general public is being given an opportunity to hear updates on the Heritage Center and Executive Office Building project during a public meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 in the General Administration Building, room 324. The meeting will provide attendees an overview of the project’s progress and upcoming events as well as give them a chance to provide comments.

The public meeting is just one portion of an on-site work session being conducted by project managers and architects Sept. 18 – 21 to modify conceptual drawings and develop design concepts for the building project. The design revisions are necessary to keep the overall project on track to meet the projected completion date.

A meeting with the Capitol Campus Design Advisory Committee to review the new proposals is also scheduled to take place during the work session. The committee serves as an advisory group to the capitol committee and GA director on plans and designs of state capitol facilities and grounds.

The Legislature in 2007 approved $112 million for construction of the Heritage Center and $75 million for the Executive Office Building. GA is managing the construction on both projects. Both are expected to be completed by early 2012.
